WORSHIP

The Worship Committee assists and supports the Pastor in conducting the spiritual affairs of the Church.

Its responsibilities include:
coordinating Church membership related matters

• 
  coordinating Church membership related matters

  welcoming guests and informing them about the activities of the Church
• 
  assisting with the reception of new Members of the Church
• 
  assisting with the worship service by providing liturgists, ushers and greeters
• 
  assisting with the eight Communion services throughout the year
  
  

SPOTLIGHT ON The Worship Committee for September 2009

Unbeknown to many of us, there is a small team of congregation members working behind the scenes each Sunday to help make our worship service a meaningful experience for all. The Worship Committee members are Todd Evans, Keith Ridenhour, Kathleen Gray, Tim Boeve, Bev Pearson, Jo Anne Connor, Patricia Serota and Rev. Nancy. Nancy Denkin is the Church Council liaison to the committee and frequently adds her time and energy to help with the Committee’s work. Worship Committee members assist Nancy in ensuring that each service runs smoothly by recruiting and training ushers, setting up the sound system, unlocking the facilities, turning on lights, etc. A Deacon is appointed for each month to handle many of these Sunday details.

Aside from handling the weekly Sunday matters, the Worship Committee also discusses concerns and suggestions from the congregation specifically related to our worship life. These could include anything from the length of the service and the announcements, to the physical objects inside the church. Some of the committee’s goals for the future include a church bulletin board, an updated brochure for visitors, and additional and varied music before and after the service.

The Worship Committee meets once a month, and members typically make a 3-year commitment to the committee.
