KING
TUTANKHAMUN
Congregation Shir Shalom,
First Congregational Church
and
Lehrhaus Judaica present
The
Golden Age of Tutankhamun:
A Preview of the de Young Exhibit
For the first time in 30 years, the myth, magic and mystery of King
Tut return to the Bay Area in June 2009 at the de Young Museum. Discover
the history and culture of Egypt's 18th Dynasty, culminating in the nine-year
rule of the Boy King. Along the way, we'll ask a number of intriguing
questions, only recently answered by Egyptologists: Who were Tut's parents?
What was his name at birth? Who was his wife and did he have children?
Was he murdered?
We'll also offer in-depth discussion of the exhibit pieces, using the
latest in digital education technology. Each artifact tells an amazing
story and this course will share those stories with you before you go.
Jehon Grist, Ph.D., Executive Director of Lehrhaus Judaica,
will teach these classes. He earned his doctorate in Near Eastern Studies
from UC Berkeley, where he was a Regents' Fellow. He has conducted field
research in Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the Valley of the Queens in southern
Egypt.
