WHAT IS 'BASKETBALL'?

Tradition has it that the 'boys' play against the 'girls'. The idea is to aim and throw a big brown leather ball full of air up into the air trying to make it fall smack dab in the middle of the large round iron circle (called a hoop) with a net hanging from the bottom. If the ball goes through the hoop, you score points. The team with the most points, wins. In past years, rumors abound that some referees allowed the 'girls' certain point advantages. But in 2004, the 'girls' played straight up with the 'boys' and they WON fair and square!!!
